Human/Promstuck - Tavros x reader

Your phone was quietly playing music as you placed your gold necklace round your neck. It was already beginning to get dark outside which signaled that your friends should be arriving soon. It would be a lie to say you weren't excited, prom did only happen once you know.

Standing up from your dresser you looked at yourself in the mirror. Your orange dress looked pretty good if you said so yourself. The dress covers your shoulders halfway and flows down into a fancy halter neckline. your arms have been covered to just below your elbows. The sleeves start out loose and tighten towards the bottom where they form a perfect match with the color of your skin.The dress' waist is broad, but it's a comfortable fit. A small, elegant belt helps accentuate your waist without being too much.

Below the waist the dress widens slightly and has a pleat style. The dress reaches all the way down to the ground and is the same length all around.

In all it was actually quite a simple dress but you loved it. So did your friend who had come out to pick it with you. Tavros was his name. God you loved that boy. He was just so delicate and sweet to you. It was only around 3 weeks ago that you actually got the dress though. Your mind wandered back to that

moment with fondness.

"why is this so difficult?!" you exclaimed, placing another dress back on the rack. You were currently stood in the changing rooms trying dress after dress on but no avail, you just couldn't find 'the one'. You know what I mean right? that one dress that catches your eye from the corner of the store. May it be expensive or the cheapest thing in the damn place, you know when you've found the right one. However at this moment you were not having the greatest of times with this.

On the other side of the curtain, sat in his wheelchair Tavros was trying his best to keep your spirits up. He'd already gone out to get a suit with Gamzee and Karkat the week before but had promised you he'd accompany you this time. All the other girls had their dresses already and you had considered asking Kanaya to make you one but the poor girl had so much work on her hands already, you decided not to. So here you are, getting more and more frustrated as you removed another dress.

"u-uhh (name)? have you found one that you like yet?" the boy asked his friend timidly, hoping that you'd at least found one you were interested in.

"ugh, no Tavros I haven't" you replied, taking a look at the blue dress in your hands. Nope. Just looking at it gave you the impression that it wouldn't look good

"im sorry you have to sit there while I complain about this Tavros, I didn't mean for it to take this long" you muttered, peeking out of the changing room at the boy. You were still just in your underwear which made the male's face heat up instantly

"no I-its fine (name), I enjoy these outings with you" he said, looking down at his feet uncomfortably.

"um..why don't I go look for a dress for you?" he suggested timidly, looking back at you once more. You have the boy a smile, nodding eagerly

"sounds good to me! I wanna see what you pick out" she said before going back into the changing rooms. Turning himself round, Tavros wheeled himself through the rather fancy looking store. There was just so much choice. Why were there so many types of dresses? Turning his head to the right something caught his eye.

Behind a couple pink dresses there was an orange one hidden right at the back. It was on a low rack so he could reach it with no problem. Moving the pink ones away he took a good look at it. "it would look so pretty on (name)..." he thought to himself. Taking the clothing off of the rack he placed it on his lap, wheeling himself back to the changing rooms.

"(name)? I picked one out for you" he said, handing it over when your hand reached out from the curtain to take it

"B-but its okay if you don't like it! I'm not really good at this stuff..." he said, trailing off at the last part. You didn't say anything as you began to put the dress on without question. After a couple minutes Tavros spoke again

"is everything okay (name)?" he asked quietly.

"yes hold on!" you called back, straightening it up you pulled the curtain back, stepping out of the changing room in front of Tavros.

"wow..." was all Tavros said as his face flushed dark. You laughed a little, running a hand through your hair

"does it look alright? I think it's pretty nice myself" you said casually, smiling at him. At first Tavros didn't even speak, he just stared.

"hellooo?? Tavros?" you said, waving a hand in front of his face. He soon snapped out of it, rubbing the back of his neck

"o-oh sorry! Yeah (name) it looks really...really nice" he said bashfully. At that your own face got a little red too.

"you think so?" you said sheepishly, giving a little twirl

"then its settled then! I'll go get changed so I can go buy this thing."

The car horn beeping outside brought you back to reality. Looking out of the window you smiled at the group of people sat waiting for you

"hurry up fuckass! we're gonna be late!" Karkat howled from the drivers seat.

"coming!" you called back excitedly. Grabbing your back and phone from the side and turning the music off you ran down the stairs and outside. Almost skipping over you got into the car, squeezing between two of your friends.

"about time" Karkat grumbled who got smacked on the head by Terezi

"don't mind him (name) we have time" the blind girl said, pushing her red glasses up her nose. In the car sat Karkat and Terezi in the front. In the back squished together sat you, Gamzee. Vriska and Kanaya. How you all fit in there you had no idea but somehow it worked. The six of you chattered absentmindedly as Karkat drove through the town to your school. Most of them had their respected dates, despite not going with them on the way there. It just worked out better since the six of you did live rather close together.

Kanaya was meeting with Rose as was Karkat with Dave. Vriska had decided to go with Terezi and Gamzee? well he was just there. (name) shrugged it off though. He seemed happy enough with everyone.

"I have to admit though, not having Tavros with us seems...peculiar to me" Kanaya spoke up as Karkat slowed down, the school was in sight now. Everyone looked uncomfortably to one another.

"i'm glad I wasn't the only one" Terezi admitted and the others nodded

"Oh i'm sure he'll be okay, he said so himself" Vriska broke the silence, giving everyone a smirk though it was easy to tell she felt a little bit of guilt for the poor boy. (name) huffed, staring out of the window, the guilt eating at her way more than the others.

Ever since you had met Tavros, he'd been in a wheelchair. The two of you became friends at the start of high school and 5 years on you two were closer than anything. Your kind personality really brought Tavros out of his shell and allowed him to make new friends, especially so with Gamzee and Karkat. The four of you were always together. This did include the others sometimes like Dave or Kanaya but when it really came down to it, you four were joined at the hip.

Though recently you'd begun to see Tavros in a not so friendly way, more in a 'please let me make out with you whilst we marathon Pokemon' kind of way. Yep. You'd fallen for the shy boy. You were there every time he had a slip up, every time someone picked on him and most importantly, every time he needed to go into hospital.

Once being in a wheelchair, he had been informed that with the right amount of therapy and work, he could walk again. It would take a damn while though. Years even but he and you were determined to see him walk again. He could already make his way across the hospital room before needing his wheelchair or crutches.

It may not seem like much but it was a massive thing for him to accomplish something like this. There were times where he thought he couldn't go on anymore, that he should just give up and stay in his wheelchair for the rest of his life. Thats where you came in. Without the support of you, Karkat and Gamzee

Tavros wasn't sure that he would even be here to this day.

Though today and tomorrow, Tavros would be having numerous tests and scans done on him to make sure everything was okay before proceeding onto more intense therapy. This was great of course, it meant he was progressing greatly but it did come with a cost.

"what do you mean you're not coming next week?" you said in shock, looking up from your food. The four of you were sat in a cafe just on the outskirts of

town. You all were having a sleepover that night and Gamzee insisted the four of you should check out this 'wicked' place out. Of course you agreed, if they

had nice food you were sold. Though what Tavros had to tell the three of you did put a downer on things.

"u-uh..just that. I'm gonna be sleeping at the hospital that night cause I'm gonna be there for the next few days. I won't have enough time to go to prom and get back to hospital.." Tavros trailed off, a sad look in his eyes. That made your heart ache, the poor boy. He seemed so excited for the event too. Plus you were hoping you could try dance with him for a while.

"well if thats the fucking case then sign me the fuck out, we'll come stay with you in the hospital that night instead" Karkat snapped, shoveling a piece of cake into his mouth

"I'm motherfucking down with that" Gamzee added, prodding at the pudding in front of him. You nodded eagerly but stopped at the look on Tavros's face

"no guys, its important that you go...its the only night you can right?" Tavros mumbled, fiddling with his food nervously.

"I don't want you to miss out on something like that because of me. I'll be fine I promise!" he said, a confident tone to his voice. You three looked to each other uncomfortably but said nothing. Despite his gentle nature, Tavros could be stubborn when he wanted to. There was no changing his mind.

"well my brother, if you wanna change your motherfucking mind then let us know" Gamzee said, breaking the silence. The male nodded, leaning back in his wheelchair and staring out of the window.

"(name), dear we've arrived.)

"sis why you motherfucking daydreaming"

"(NAME) FOR FUCKS SAKE"

You jumped, looking round you saw your friends had already got out of the car.

"we're here already" Terezi said, giggling as you stumbled out of the car, apologizing. The six of you made your way inside the building to the school hall

where the prom was being held. When you opened up the doors the group looked round in somewhat awe. The prom had a night theme going on. The lights were dark blue and paper stars were hung from the ceiling. The music was pounding through your ears as you followed your friends to meet up with the larger group

. Everyone began to mingle immediately. Kanaya instantly commented on Rose's dress, to which Rose replied "well you did make it" before the two giggled quietly to each other. Karkat and Dave were already dancing, much to your amusement as Karkat's yelling could be heard over the music. Overall it was turning out to be a great night.

You sat with Nepeta and Equius for a while, giggling when her favorite song came on and dragging her friend to go dance. You caught a glance of Equius's nervous expression and gave him a wave as you stood to go talk to someone else. You found yourself between Feferi and Aradia, gossping to each other as Sollux and Eridan glared each other down from either sides of the three girls.

"so Tavros couldn't make it after all...the poor guy" Feferi said sadly, Aradia nodding in agreement. You sighed, leaning back against and sofa and looking up at the ceiling.

"you were hoping to dance with him right?" Eridan questioned. You let out a screech, covering his mouth with your hands

"shut up Eridan!" you hissed, looking at the others who were smirking

"what you don't think we already know (name)?" Sollux said, placing a arm round Aradia's shoulders

"you made it pretty obvious" he added.

"blah blah blah not listening fuck you!" you yelled, covering your ears. The four of them laughed, you smiling a little as well.

"why don't you just tell him (name)? i'm sure tonight would've been perfect but he's...not here" Aradia murmured, resting her chin in her hand "mhmm..." you said quietly, looking down at your hands. "I wish he could've been here for this, I wanted him to have fun" you muttered, gazing out at the group of people who were dancing. Sitting up straight you stood, brushing off your dress

"(name)? where are you going?" Eridan asked, the others staring up at you. Looking down at them you smiled nervously "I'm going to see Tavros" you said, bidding the group farewell before leaving. The four looked to one another, smiling a little

"how adorable" Feferi said dreamily, watching as you disappeared in the crowd.

looking round, you spotted Karkat and Gamzee leant against the wall talking. With a smile you walked over.

"hey sis what motherfucking up?" Gamzee said,

throwing an arm over your shoulder. You giggled, looking to Karkat.

"The hospital isn't too far from here right?" you said. Karkat frowned a little, nodding

"its a five minute walk from here, why though?" Looking at your excited face he frowned a little

"didn't Tavros say for us not to come? you know how fucking stubborn he can be (name)" You nodded, looking up at Gamzee

"I know but..he'd on his own whilst we're all here having the time of our lives. It just doesn't feel right...plus I need to talk to him about something" you finished, your face flushing pink. The two stared at you for a second before Gamzee lifted you up and span you round a couple times

"about motherucking time!" he yelled. You laughed at this, looking to the floor with a blush. You could see the faintest of smiles on Karkat's face as he placed a hand on your shoulder

"we'll round the others up when this is all over (name), you get the fuck going now!" he exclaimed. You grinned, hugging the two of them as you turned on your heel

"i'll catch up with you in a couple hours then!" you yelled, running the best you could in your dress out of the building.

Tavros was already sat in bed at this time, in his hands a comic book Gamzee had let him borrow whilst he was here. His brother and father had just left moments ago, telling him they'd be back tomorrow as early as they could. He smiled and nodded at this but deep down he was pretty damn upset.

He wanted nothing more than to be with you and the others right now. He wanted to be out there dancing and having a good time, not cooped up in here on his own. Though what he wanted the most was to spend time with you. Pretty much from when the two of you began to get to know eachother he'd always had this little crush.

Throughout the years this had only progressed to the point where it was pretty obvious to everyone else but you.

He knew you'd wanted to miss prom to stay with him and he wanted that to happen so much, but he couldnt ruin your night. Not when you looked as beautiful as you did. Plus you were probably going to dance with some other guy instead. That thought made him slouch a little, looking out of the window sadly.

"why, of all days did it have to be today...?" he muttered to himself. He was about to lay down on his back to try take a nap when the door was thrown open with a bang, making the boy almost fall out of bed. Sitting up quickly he looked towards the door to see who it was and he stopped, staring in shock. There you were, out of breath leaning against the door.

Your hair looked slightly messed compared to when you'd set off as well. Had you ran here? Tavros didn't say anything as you stood up straight, making your way over

"(name)-" you cut him off with a hug, making him shut up

"I don't care what you say Tavros, you shouldn't be on your own tonight" you said stubbonly, hugging hin tighter. Tavros sniffled a little, wrapping his arms round your torso and returning the hug. You stayed like that for a good few minutes in silence before pulling back."Tavors laughed nervously, rubbing his eyes

"t-thanks (name)" he said, smiling at you. You grinned, rumaging through your bag you pulled out your phone. Unlocking it you swiped through your songs until it landed on your favourite. Placing it down on the side table you got up, holding your hand out

"I know you're still having trouble with standing sometimes but uh" you stopped, your cheeks flushing pink

"do you wanna dance?" you asked, giving him a smile. The look of shock on his face made your heart melt as he nodded eagerly.

"o-of course! You'll need to help me up though.." he said timidly. You helped him swing his legs over the side and slowly you managed to get him into a standing position. He wasn't heavy at all so you could take his weight easily as the two of you began to sway from left to right.one of your arms on his shoulder and your other intertwined with his. He copied your actions, though his other hand was placed on your waist. You didn't want to push him anymore than he needed. Resting your head on his shoulder you closed your eyes. You could feel him stiffen up a little as you did and you looked up

"are you okay?" you asked him. His face was usually red

"y-yes i'm fine!" he stuttured out, gripping onto you a little tighter. He swallowed nervously, speaking again

"(name)? can I tell you something?" you nodded slowly, a curious look on your face

"go on..." you said cautiously. He looked extremly nervous, something you were used to but not to this extent.

"you see...well u-um..the thing is" he managed to get out

"I wanted to..I..oh screw it" wait what? Before you could even say anything you felt a pair of lips press against your own gently. Out of shock you pulled away almost instantly, looking up at Tavro's heartborken face

"o-oh...sorry (name) that was pretty stupid of me" he said, trying to laugh but it wasn't working. You could tell he was upset.

"no Tavros don't cry!" you exclaimed, standing on your tip toes to kiss him again. This time it was his turn to be shocked, once realising what you were actually doing his arms wrapped round you tighter. After a few seconds the once gentle kiss turned into something a little more heated. With your arms wrapped round his neck you kissed him deeper. Pulling away eventually, the two of you stared up at eachother, both faces red as anything.

"s-so uh does this mean you like me?" he said hopefully, biting his lip a little. You snorted, laughing quietly as you nodded

"yes Tavros, I do" His lips broke into the happiest smile you'd ever seen him pull.

"I like you too" he said, leaning in to kiss you again. Your lips almost touched until

"OTP! Equius look I was right!" both of your heads whipped round to see the large group of people stood at the door. Some looked shocked, others happy and some even smug.

"called it" Dave muttered, John almost laughing at your flustered expression

"aw yeah (name)! get some!" someone shouted from the back. You didn't want to know who said that. Looking up to Tavros you covered your mouth, laughing to yourself. Eventually Tavros joined in and in a couple moments.

Everyone was situated in the room. You, Tavros, Karkat and Gamzee on the bed with Rose, Jade, Terezi and Kanaya sat in the spare seats. Everyone else was either stood or sat in the room somewhere. You spent the next hour laughing and messing round until the nurse demmanded that everyone left, par you of course, you said you'd sleep in the chair. People were'nt even allowed to have visitors apart from family on this day. How the hell did everyone even get in?

Once everyone bid their farewells it had gone midnight. You and Tavros laid curled up with eachother under the covers.

"lets sleep Tavros, you've gotta be tired" He barely responded, just nodding tiredly

"yeah..goodnight (name), love you" he murmured, falling asleep almsot instantly. You blushed, snuggling closer to him

"love you too"
